Jeera Rice Recipe – Simple & comforting rice recipe that you can have everyday

Jeera rice or jeera pulao is is your quick fix rice recipe. It gets made in a matter of minutes and is really no fuss. Jeera rice goes well with most Indian vegetarian or non-vegetarian curries and dishes.

This recipe is different from Masala rice recipe that uses other whole spices. Jeera rice or jeera pulao uses just jeera or cumin seeds and marries it with the goodness of basmati rice. The end results are simply divine. Making jeera rice is so simple that even bachelors can make it with ease. Since this recipe uses pressure cooker, it is really snappy to make as well.

Enjoy this flavourful rice preparation with curries or just lentils. Just the way you like it.

Tip: Soak the rice for half an hour or so prior to cooking. If you have not soaked the rice prior. Give three pressure whistles instead of one otherwise. You can use oil instead of ghee, but ghee fluffs up the rice and gives it an amazing aroma. If upon removing the lid, there is still liquid in the cooker, let it remain on fire till the water dries up.

Stuff you’ll need for Jeera Rice

Basmati Rice Washed clean & soaked for 30 mins 0.5 Cup
Ghee 1 Teaspoon
Salt 1.5 Teaspoon
Water 2 Cups
Cumin Seeds or Jeera 1 Teaspoon

Process to make Jeera Rice

  1. Soak the rice for half an hour after washing it thoroughly. You can soak this directly in the pressure cooker.
  2. To start cooking add salt, sprinkle jeera or cumin seeds on top and then pour ghee at the end.
  3. Close the lid of pressure cooker and on it goes on fire till it sounds one whistle.
  4. Remove the pressure top and let the steam escape.
  5. Fluff the rice with a fork to separate the cooked grains.
  6. Serve hot with the curry of your choice.

बासमती चावल धो कर ३० मिनट तक भिगो लें। आधा कप
घी एक छोटा चमच
नमक डेढ़ छोटा चमच
पानी २ कप
ज़ीरा या जीरा एक छोटा चमच

Process to make Jeera Rice

  1. बासमती चावल को एक से धो कर पानी में भिगो लें। यह कार्य आप प्रेशर कुकर में भी कर सकते हें।
  2. पकाने के लिए प्रेशर कुकर को आँच पे चढ़े लें और उसमें नमक, जीरा और घी डाल के बंद कर दें।
  3. पहली सीटी बजने पर कुकर का वज़न निकाल लें ताकि भाप निकाल जाए।
  4. एक काँटे से चावल को चला लें। इससे चावल के दाने चिपकेंगे नहीं।
  5. अपनी पसंद की करी या डाल सब्ज़ी के साथ परोसें।
